Rebecca J. Leer is an award-winning artist whose oil paintings capture a moment in time that feels rich with nuance
and feeling. Even the simplest objects, seen through prismatic light, are transformed into something extraordinary.
The renowned painter, John Phillip Osborne, says of her work:
"She paints light in a way that allows her to rise above the subject, the light instead reveals the subject
in the same way the Great Masters aspired to using light in their paintings."
Ms. Leer's work has been selected for prestigious juried exhibits by nationally recognized associations,
including the Hudson Valley Artists' Association, the New York Society of Illustrators,
the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators (Silver Medal), and the Washington D.C. Society of Illustrators
(Honorable Mention). Her art work is part of the permanent collection at the Franklin Institute Museum in Philadelphia.
Ms. Leer was awarded the Land of Enchantment Book Award for her illustrations
and has created works for a wide variety of clients, including Scholastic Books,
Alfred A. Knopf, Children's Television Network, the Washington Post, and Apple Computers.
Ms. Leer is the Curator for the Permanent Collection at the Ridgewood Art Institute
where she is on the Board of Trustees.
